Serious question. Why refuse to acknowledge this? How is the rest of the LL govt supposed to function with this universally hated body of govt left in place?
I want to see how this HoL works inside the new framework that is to be revealed in December
Ah that should be interesting…
So I take their newest response to mean that: they know the Senate concept is universally hated and yet they are going to do it anyway. But they would rather have everyone just shut up about it.
“The best way to beat a tyrant is to become an even bigger tyrant”
Do they realize the times we are living in? Some massive % of the population has awoken to how they are being taken advantage of by the rich and powerful. This is not 0.01% of the population we are talking about, it is more like 30-40% of the global population who now understand this. You can’t sneak anything past them. They are going to deeply look at every new law and at the history of every new candidate.
There is no going back to the way things were. The populace will never be asleep again.
The general population is awake in many regards. Look at the food situation here with food stamps being gone in America. Everyone is having to rely on private charity which is the way it is supposed to be. We have to somehow educate everyone on how to grow their own food.
Another issue I see with LL is that there may not be enough people aware of how the senate is supposed to function if they knew I think there be an even bigger calling for it’s demise.
Yes I think lack of awareness is the biggest issue. Every part of this new govt should be talked about in every possible way 100’s of times.
Another aspect is probably blind faith in people that make some good decisions, it is assumed every decision they make will be the right one. In reality, we all occasionally do some very idiotic things, and we must watch each other and step in when a potential blunder will affect outside people.
I need to do more reading and re-read a few history books around the American founding era and also a few other periods possibly. The main issue I see is that blind faith in the new technologies such as the blockchain, could be detrimental in a lack of critical thinking of possible scenarios.
I feel like me and you Murf are part of the antifederalists from the American founding era who were telling the federalists who were following their leaders by blind faith in my opinion, everything that would eventually happen to our federal government. If it weren’t for the antifederalists we would not have the Bill of Rights and while the federalists tried to sweep the issue under the rug after ratification it was James Madison that said we must pass a bill of rights to appease these people otherwise we will have another rebellion on our hands. Their claims that the us house would become too small, it would undermine the power of the states, the president would gain powers like that of a king, and that the new national government will become to powerful and become tyrannical have all come true. The only thing that makes us different from Canada and Europe I think is our bill of rights, we borrowed a ton of the bill of rights from England but since they have no constitution they have repealed almost if not all of their English Bill of Rights of 1689 which ours is based upon in part.
I really do hope that we can prevail in this issue because when is another opportunity such as what is in front of us going to happen again 100 years, 200 years? We really don’t know but if we do it correctly we could start a domino effect like what has happened in the past where countries topple their oppressive governments for new ones. The question is can we make Liberland free enough to be the new gold standard that America was to many countries around the world over a century ago?
I agree with all your statements, and the historical angle is much appreciated.
I guess we are the antifederalists (in this case the “antisenatists”). It’s hard for me to feel much joy in this, because I feel so much annoyance that we have to repeat history that is 230+ years old.
Why do we again have founders that say, “We did a massive amount of work founding this govt of LL, therefore we deserve to benefit off of it more than anyone else.”
When instead the founders should be saying, “We did a massive amount of work founding this govt of LL, and we donate all that time, effort, and money towards the benefit of all the people of Liberland so that this new society thrives.”
This is why the building of (physical) LL should be delayed until all the mental work has been hashed out a thousand times. Every single institution and societal system must be mentally worked to perfection so that LL doesn’t start its life with sabotaged systems like the US did. In my opinion, it is a blessing that Croatia has kept up its harassment campaign, because brilliant ideas don’t just spring up overnight, so if LL had been built up with infrastructure back in 2016, it probably would have turned into yet another copy-and-paste country.
Good points made, I see why the settlement is being attempted though and that is to satisfy the requirements of the Montevideo Convention. One of which is a permanent population for the claimed land so from that viewpoint I understand the their reasoning however. I would keep the settlement to a small population of those that are dedicated to the cause and are experienced in construction of wilderness survival as I have seen videos of feral hogs at a campsite and since firearms aren’t allowed on LL for good reason to keep the peace, although in a situation where feral hogs are running around I would wasn’t some kind of protection with me.
