Volunteers are often terrible workers - How can LL change this?

I’ve worked with volunteers in many different circumstances. They are often lazy, entitled, and have hidden or bad motives. If we can agree that this is often the case, how can Liberland differentiate itself in this and have outstanding volunteers? And I’m not talking about now when LL is more like a wonderful idea for dreamers, but a decade or two from now when LL is a fully functioning country and well past its honeymoon period.

Liberland uses volunteers for almost everything now I think I know when one goes to “settle” Liberland they are rewarded with citizenship from what I understand they are supposed to be building a few houses over there not sure if it is like how habitat for humanity works bit it sounds similar from what I understand. To use the amish again they do barn raisings where the community comes together to build a barn for someone in their community they also do it for house and other things too if necessary. Again this ties into the service and community above self mentality that is needed. For the amish their church is their glue what will it be for liberland I do not know yet.

Wonderfully put; the GLUE is what is important! Hopefully the new Liberland schools will create that glue as they train the next round of citizens as we eventually approach the post-honeymoon period. I believe any society must create the morality framework for their people and most societies have used the morality lessons from their religion.

Are there any examples of a morality framework created outside of religion? Maybe it doesn’t matter if most current Liberlanders are Christian, then it will kind of de-facto be built on Christian morality. Does anyone know if any are? I haven’t heard any LLer mention it.

While historically there have been only a few examples currently the nordic countries would be the best example but they have an excellent education and social system that bonds their communities together while they are religious there they do not use it like a blunt instrument like other cultures and civilizations have in the past and present.

I’m not too familiar with the Nordic countries. Why do you use them as an example? What’s different about their institutions?

I found a few different things on the nordic countries in the past. They have always been the gold standard of what a good society can be through a good community and high trust in their systems of government. Here is one analysis O have found for them.

These nations have built moral cohesion through secular welfare states, social contracts, and trust in institutions. While historically Lutheran, modern Scandinavia is highly secular, with religion playing a minimal role in public life. Cohesion comes from shared values of equality, social welfare, and democratic participation. High trust in government, transparent institutions, and welfare systems (e.g., universal healthcare, education) create a sense of mutual responsibility. Cultural emphasis on lagom (balance, sufficiency) in Sweden, for example, promotes moderation and collective well-being.
