An observation of mine of past and present Congress members including this Congress is this, a majority of the Congress have also been members of the Liberland Cabient. While I have no problem with this and quite frankly I see this as a good component of Liberland’s government, the problem though, I think is that the approach needs to be changed slightly.
My idea on this is to change the method by which cabinet members are placed into the Congress, I think that for members of the Cabient then being ex-officio members of the Congress is the best approach. In this way the body of Congress grows by the cabinet members not competing directly with those that aren’t cabinet members and their advice and proposals will still be presented and debated on without them actually voting on their own proposals—this removes any precived conflict of interest because in this way they have to convince a majority of Congress members that aren’t also members of the Cabient to approve their proposal that they are presenting to the Congress.
Also the members of the Cabinet and the Senate should not be allowed to vote for Congress members and furthermore they should not vote in veto referenda either as they would have an inherent interest to keep the status quo. They can campaign on those issues for or against as that is their freedom of speech to do so and while the argument could be made that they should be able to vote. The issue at least as it currently stands though is that the senate in particular have such a disproportionate power dynamic that even with quadratic voting their vote is still based on my numbers it is around 70 to 1 to vote against the president as in it takes 70 people with 5000 merits even with a quadratic voting system in place to override the vote of just the president.
While I cannot confirm or deny this accusation I have information from multiple sources which I am not allowed to name that the President himself hand selected the composition of the Congress. If this were to be true it makes Liberland I would argue a puppet state of the president’s and that everyone serves at his will. That is not the Liberland I signed up to join.
The members of the Cabient are an essential part of the Congress but I think the way they are included in the Congress needs to be changed as they should already be in the Congress automatically ex-officio and not have to compete for votes because they all inherently have more merit power.
