I know everyone here I go again on an issue that many may not really care about but needs to be addressed.
Everyone knows that when someone dies, someone else be it family, a close friend, or even a charity: inherits or gets the property of the deceased on what it is and the legal process of passing this property over to that other person is called probate - at least in common law countries it is. Personally I am going through this process now and have been for over 2 years now with no end in sight for me. Whenever that first person dies that is a citizen or permanent resident there needs to be a process to dispose of the deceased’s property but I don’t want it to be used unless absolutely necessary.
My solution is that not required but everyone should have in the blockchain their will or some legal instrument that says where their property should go and that the smart contract be executed upon the issue of their death. This would also be very helpful for life insurance or other types of legal instruments that are to be executed upon the death of someone like transfer of a business, shares of stock, etc. I do not know how such a thing would be done but I hope people who are smarter than me in the blockchain space are already working on this and if they aren’t are at least inspired by me to start working on this issue.
Liberland merits as they are currently used should I think be surrendered back to Liberland upon death and not be inheritable it is something that each person should earn for themselves and not be handed down. The biggest reason I see moving into the future are 2 classes of people in Liberland those with merits and those without. Much like how British Aristocracy’s titles are only handed down to the first born male the same will happen with Liberland Merits. Under the current system only 14,000 people can become citizens of Liberland based on the current 5,000 merit requirement to gain citizenship. Citizenship of Liberland wants to be truly to be a meritocracy it should be earned by each person of is a citizen not an inherited title like the British have if the Senate is to be created in the form currently proposed siblings would fight over who gets the merits to gain their fathers senate seat, that is barbaric, antiquated and just down right backward to what the modern world is currently.
