I am very honored to have received my first letter to editor you can send me a pm on the Liberland forum, or through Liberland’s groups on telegram, signal and discord. I am hoping to have a dedicated email address. Here is the letter:
I first heard about Liberland about 2-3 years ago when things were looking pretty grim in America. I was researching backup countries to potentially move to in case things went full-on authoritarian in the US. Liberland looked super interesting and a stark contrast to other legacy type countries that have mostly copy-and-pasted their policies and so in many ways look like a uni-country. I kept up with LL every once in a while and when I saw that they had a forum I eagerly started posting there.
Things were going well, and I had a very vague plan that, even if things weren’t looking terrible in the US, maybe I would still become a LL citizen and have a log cabin there and maybe spend my summers there or something like that. I had just submitted my BTC to become an e-resident and I was about to fill out my application.
Then I heard about the LL Senate, which was thought up (Im assuming) to compare to the UK House of Lords. The members of this Senate were not going to be elected, like Congress is. The Senate “Lords” would be appointed into forever positions and even death wouldn’t end their reign because it would just pass on to one of their children. This was either created to ensure the founding members would never lose control, or perhaps to ensure big money backing from billionaire investors.
My heart absolutely sank. I guess I had put too many eggs into one basket, as they say. In one day, my dreams for Liberland were pretty much destroyed. If my readers aren’t quite understanding my point of view here: the only reason I would ever want to step away from the USA, either permanently or partially, was because the US govt is infested with rich, greedy assholes who don’t care a lick about what the common middle-class person wants the country to be. Our military-industrial complex is composed of administrators that have gifted themselves life-long positions of power that even Presidents can’t seem to get rid of. Why in the heck would I want to go join another country that is, from day 1, officially composed of rich politicians who have gifted themselves forever power? And even passing that power onto their children, who may grow up to be complete idiots? They’ll allow idiots into power positions just because of things decided 50 years prior?
So, again, my heart sank. My dreams of actually visiting LL and possibly becoming a citizen were gone. In its place was only a desire to attack this dream-killing idea that I will now refer to as The Black HoL. If any of my readers think I am somehow an outlier in this point of view, please try to explain The Black HoL to a stranger and see if they support or reject this idea. I am just guessing that we will see over 90% of people asked completely reject this idea, and do so with a look of disgust on their faces.
Now there is only one scenario I haven’t discussed. I do think there is a chance that maybe 10% of the reason to enact The Black HoL was because there was a desire to keep a fail-safe plan to save LL from catastrophic negative outside forces (I still support that 90% of the decision to enact The Black HoL was to gift themselves forever power and/or to reward billionaire donors). But let’s consider negative outside forces and why LL should want to protect against them.
America has, at least for the last 80-90 years, been the most meddlesome country in the affairs of foreign countries. Israel might be second (and you could argue that Israel is behind most of the US’ foreign policy). But America has been involved in unfairly overthrowing the govts of dozens of countries. They do this by staging “color” revolutions and using unseen money and hidden influence so that, on the surface, they can say “It wasn’t us that overthrew that govt, it was their own people!” But everyone really knows that it was them.
There are even shadier methods than “color” revolutions used. When I was 18, I believed my country was attacked by outside terrorist forces on 9/11. I even joined the US military along with countless other patriots. Well I feel quite foolish when looking back on my younger self now. We were completely bamboozled and duped. There was no outside terrorist force. US and Israeli assets carried out those attacks. There are now innumerable points of evidence to prove this. And there are other countries also that carry out horribly immoral and self-serving foreign policy as well, like China. And I definitely won’t get into here all the billionaire funded NGO’s that operate as de-facto private armies for the ultra-elite.
So I can completely 100% understand the desire to protect LL from terrible outside influences. There are many more methods of influencing outside of even what I have mentioned above. And Liberland needs to be prepared for every bit of it. Preparedness and protection from negative outside influences needs to be baked into every single thing that LL does, every law that is passed needs to consider it, every candidate needs to be re-examined on behalf of it, every stranger that arrives in LL talking a big game needs to be suspected of it. Every single person who says they are former CIA or even former foreign military, like me, should be absolutely grilled with questions until intent is proven to the satisfaction of questioners.
But The Black HoL is not the way to do it. The Black HoL is the best way to guarantee that idealistic dreamers do NOT hop aboard the LL train. And without dreamers, LL will die.
