Literally paper currency buys you merits which gets you votes. People too poor to buy them don’t get them. “Yeah but you can put in your time and get merits!” Ok, I have put in hundreds of hours of my time creating govt innovations which have been publicly posted here for the benefit of LL. Where are my merits?
Oh right you have to specifically do work authorized by the powerful people to get merits. So the wealthy and the powerful are at the top, looking down on the rest of us… But it’s not an oligarchy? Idk man, that seems to exactly fit the definition of oligarchy.
To me the current merit system (as designed) is lawful snobbery. The “cool” people looking at the “uncool” and saying “they could be us, if only they were cooler”. The “uncool” will never support such a system.
I do agree with Vit’s comments on state-mandated welfare. And I love the idea that “the rest of the world can observe, critique, and adopt what works.”
I wish there was public discourse on these ideas; a properly proven chain-of-logic can sway logical minds and decisively prove points. The powerful people of LL have completely backed away from any public discourse which is NOT what people do when they hold the logical-high-ground, but it IS what they do when they have all the power and couldn’t care less about the logical points produced by conversation.
Any scientific experiment must be wary of negative indicators and change course to achieve ultimate success. Wasn’t Dorian’s revolution and extreme discontent among low level LLers enough negative indicators to warrant a course change? Are you waiting for revolution 2.0?
