Society has always chosen election candidates based on likeability, charisma, and public speaking ability. Should we allow this to continue? Or, should we put the candidates in positions where we are able to judge their empathy for others, problem solving ability, understanding of human psychology, understanding of observable science…?
I would like to see the congress candidates all be given a puzzle at the same time and watch all of them try to solve it.
Hand them all a Rubik’s Cube and let’s watch them try to solve it. If they already know how to solve the Rubik’s Cube, then that also gives us the information that they already put in the work earlier in life to be good at solving it.
Let’s watch them all complete a mechanical aptitude test.
Let’s watch them do a Rorschach test.
If they refuse to take part in tests that others do agree to do on camera, well, their refusal speaks to the type of person they are and how they believe they will perform on the tests.
Some of this will have to be experimentation to see which tests give us good observable results, but regardless we must continue to INNOVATE in this! Debates are fine to do as well, but we know for sure that they do not give us ALL the information we need to make a good choice.
