I completely understand and support the use of AI. It’s one of the most powerful tools for learning and refining ideas that we’ve ever had.
That said, I would really like to see more posts written in people’s own words. It feels a bit like AI is speaking through each of us and doesn’t feel like the kind of community we’re trying to build. It becomes harder to tell who has wrestled with the difficult questions surrounding libertarianism.
I use AI primarily to sharpen my thinking and help me reach conclusions, but I am also guilty of the occasional copy and paste. I just don’t want it to replace my own speech or the voices of people on this forum. If AI is used, I think making sure the final post is concise and without filler is prudent.
I will admit I have used AI to try and illustrate certain points on here but that sometimes it is counterintuitive and makes something more confusing instead of clarifying the issue. For me the ease at which AI can write text for you is amazing especially if you prompt it to tweak certain phrases and let it analyze your writing style to better match your writing. It also can write about topics that you may have little knowledge in and put it into words that help you and the reader understand the topic more easily. When I first joined Liberland I had no clue how crypto worked and through AI I learned a lot about how it works still no where near an expert but I do know how blockchains work some and it is nothing like I had perceived before I started learning how they function. I thought everything was permanent and that no modifications could ever be made once a blockchain was setup but I know now that certain improvements can be made.
I was emailing someone in a semi-professional circumstance recently, and I made a rather outside-the-box business proposal to them. I received an email that was 100% AI. Of course, I was only able to recognize this because I am an extremely heavy AI user. A non-user never would have known that the email sender had put zero effort into that email.
Technically, the AI email said the right things in the right way to make the business deal move forward. However the emotional effect in me was one of disgust with the sender because they couldn’t take the time or energy to use their own voice. Naturally, I immediately called them out on passing off AI as their own words, and, needless to say, the deal did not move forward lol.
