The park is being developed in partnership with four-time world inline skating champion Joe Atkinson, who is leading the concept and design. The project targets high-level skaters and is intended to position the area as a destination for training and competitions.
The announcement was made during a multi-day gathering that brought participants from across Europe to the Danube site, indicating early interest in expanding activity beyond seasonal tourism. Organizers expect the completed facility to support recurring events, training visits, and longer stays in the Apatin and Sombor area.
The planned location is Ark Village, a developing mixed-use zone combining residential units, coworking space, and recreational infrastructure. The addition of an Olympic-scale skating facility would extend the site into professional sport and introduce a new category of use to the area.
“We are building a real facility near Apatin that can be used by professional athletes and visitors,” said Vít Jedlička, President of Liberland. “It is part of a broader effort to develop lasting infrastructure along the Danube.”
The development is being carried out in partnership with Liberland, which has been building infrastructure and hosting international visitors along the Danube corridor since 2015. The project reflects continued investment into fixed assets in the region, with expected spillover into nearby Apatin and Sombor.
