Progress Report 2 On Liberland vs The World

We have done another 10 countries and it’s time for another progress report on Liberland vs The World showing what I have learned and what the data shows. In my first draft of this series I was going to end at 20 I wanted to focus first on comparing Liberland to small micro states, friends of Liberland and regional neighbors. As I started diving more into how different countries operate it became obvious to me that I really needed a more broad spectrum approach to include the “major powers”, all of the Balkan States, more European neighbors to eventually deciding I will take on doing this series to the entire world. It is not easy to do but I am making the most of it and hope everyone is enjoying as much as I am.

In this batch I want to compare Haiti, Taiwan and Singapore. With these 3 countries in particular they each have a different tie in to Liberland from Haiti’s resilience, to Taiwans limited international recognition but still can covertly have a strong passport, to what I think is the country Liberland needs to model in terms of technological innovations Singapore.

Liberland is like Haiti in terms of resilience the populace of Haiti whether it is earthquakes, hurricanes or just poverty itself, the Haitians have always been seen to be resilient and able to find ways to overcome what life has dealt them. Liberland has faced similar problems but with access to their own land from Croatian authorities. While this is no longer as big of an issue as it once was what now is a larger threat is the flood waters of the Danube River as buildings begin to be constructed. What Liberlanders must to now is to construct buildings in a way so that when flooding does occur their homes aren’t washed away.

Taiwan since the “One China” policy came to be has faced serious problems in being recognized by the international community but they somehow still survive by being innovative and bypassing diplomatic relations by going for “trade and travel” in terms of securing trade deals and gaining passport access for their people in spite of being only recognized by a handful of nations around the world. Liberland can learn a lesson from this and conduct the same covert soft diplomacy Taiwan has been successful at and gain trade deals and legitimize the Liberland Passport for international travel.

Singapore is known as the smart city for good reason in terms of technological innovations Singapore is the place to be. Liberland’s officials are constantly there doing some type of tech/crypto conference there it seems like to me. What Liberland needs to do and I know this will take time but the tech infrastructure to build something like what Singapore has should be considered a priority. HOWEVER I will underscore this point IF one does not wish to be involved in such a smart city one should still be able to be stay in Liberland. There are many people who are libertarian minded that may not want to be in a smart city and just want to be left alone, there should be places in Liberland where such tech while out “banned” would be frowned upon, think of it like an Amish area that exists in the US.

This is why I created this series in part was to show the people of Liberland how we can improve this country based on what other countries have already successfully done.
