Bringing Ethereum's Ecosystem to Liberland
The Liberland development team has been working to deploy Frontier EVM on Liberland Blockchain, a Substrate-based chain that currently powers Liberland's governance system, Liberland Merit-based voting, and validator network. This integration will enable developers familiar with Ethereum's tooling and languages to build on Liberland's freedom-focused infrastructure, powered by Liberland Dollar (LLD).
With EVM compatibility, developers will gain access to:
- Solidity smart contract deployment on Liberland Blockchain
- Standard EVM wallet support including MetaMask, Zerion, Trust Wallet, and other wallets that support custom networks
- Familiar development tools from the Ethereum ecosystem
- A freedom-preserving community aligned with libertarian principles and voluntary governance
Phased Rollout Approach
The EVM integration will launch in two phases:
Phase 1 (Q4 2025): Developers will be able to deploy Solidity smart contracts directly to Liberland Blockchain, opening the network to Ethereum-compatible dApps and protocols.
Phase 2 (Q1 2026): The Liberland Blockchain Dashboard app will integrate EVM wallet support, allowing users to interact with the network seamlessly using their preferred Ethereum wallets.
In the end, there are a slew of benefits that Liberland Blockchain will receive immediately, but others that will still require additional work to achieve.
Features Liberland Blockchain will add natively:
- Native LLD on Metamask, Zerion, Trust Wallet, and other wallets that support adding custom networks
- Use blockchain.liberland.org via MetaMask and other compatible wallets
- Solidity contract support
- Easier integrations with hundreds of protocols and apps
- Easier full project migration or cloning on Liberland Blockchain
Features that will require custom development:
- EVM to EVM bridges
- Uniswap integration or integration with anything on Ethereum or Ethereum-based layer 2 networks
- LLD staking in MetaMask
At this time, we don't see a path to enable interacting with LLM via Ethereum-compatible wallets, but our development team will continue to explore ways to achieve that or take ideas from others on how to do so.
Best of Both Worlds
Liberland Blockchain's architecture combines Substrate's flexibility and performance with Ethereum's massive developer ecosystem. By supporting both Rust-based Substrate development and EVM/Solidity deployment, Liberland offers developers multiple pathways to build on infrastructure aligned with principles of individual liberty and a citizen-owned nation.
For Ethereum developers seeking a community that values economic freedom, minimal government interference, and transparent blockchain governance, Liberland presents a unique opportunity to deploy applications where code meets constitutional principles.
Developer Access Expanding
This expansion represents a significant milestone in Liberland's technical roadmap, complementing the existing governance infrastructure that enables merit-based voting, citizen participation, and validator node operation, powered by LLD. EVM compatibility will dramatically expand the potential developer base while maintaining Liberland's commitment to voluntary association and economic freedom.
