Liberland has grown much in the last 10 years. Thanks to the efforts of the Liberland team guided by the President Vít Jedlička, Liberland now has 1200 citizens, 8000 eresidents, and almost a million citizenship requests. Liberland is now transitioning from a startup-style, presidential executive system to a nation-style congressional and cabinet executive system. This event follows the successful maturation of Liberland's blockchain and the completion of trials by its congress. It is part of the plan approved and signed by the President on the Liberland Blockchain, namely:
- “All Liberland legislation on-chain, legally binding, and subject to blockchain governance by citizens.”
- “Liberland becomes the first country to do 50%+ finances on chain.” (meaning the spending is decided by the congress)
The change is spearheaded by the Secretary of Technology and elected congressman Dorian Jakov Stern Vukotic, whose congressional campaign promises include implementing these changes as the President envisioned. He announces the transition of budgeting and executive power to the Congress, the guarantees of free and fair elections, and estimates the transition will be fully completed by the next election, which concludes in two months. Liberland citizens have provided significant funding directed to ensuring the transition goes smoothly.
The maturation of Liberland's blockchain has been a cornerstone of its development, enhancing transparency, efficiency, and security within its governance structure. This technological advancement has solidified the nation's commitment to innovation and self-sufficiency. Additionally, the congress trials have demonstrated successful implementation of new policies and procedures, paving the way for smoother operations under the new leadership framework.
